Sure – If you weren’t asking completely retarded questions.

I’m talking about FOX’s new show. It’s another one of those “play for money” game shows, but it feels too forced, too dumb, too messed up. The host is Jeff Foxworthy, who just looks weird as a host of anything. The jokes on the show are corny, and the panel of elementary school kids they bring onto the show are cheesey. It seems as if some screen in front of them, invisible to the audience, is telling them when to laugh. The first contestant was surprisingly stupid – he didn’t know what month Columbus Day fell on, he didn’t know the height of a triangle with an area of 16 and a base of 8, and there was something else he didn’t know. They kept saying that he was a UCLA graduate and he was 40 years old and blah blah blah.

Some of the questions are really easy, and you’d swear some of them aren’t even elementary questions. Who the hell knows who the first impeached president was? (it was Andrew Johnson, but who learns that in elementary school?) What the hell is the REM that happens while you’re sleeping? (I later learned, through the show, that it is “Rapid Eye Movement”.)

Basically, this show is stupid. FOX needs to find some other way to make money, and leave shows like Deal or No Deal to doing the whole playing for money kind of stuff.

High school bathrooms – or any public bathroom, for that matter – are icky.

Part of this can always be attributed to the site that owns the bathroom. Maybe they don’t clean it enough? Maybe they don’t care? But at the same time, part of it can be attributed to the people that use these bathrooms. Why don’t people care enough to keep the public bathrooms at least somewhat clean? It’s a disgrace to walk into a bathroom that smells so much like urine that you’d probably die within ten minutes of your visit.

The point of this piece, though, is to speak about negligence on the owner’s side.

The topic of that Sunday was finance and balance. He started with the five circles of commitment to the church. You know the thing where there’s an extremely large circle and then smaller circles are inscribed? Consider that, with five levels.

The most inner level is called the “Core” – the core consists of the people in the church that work (work for the church; i.e., ushers, deacons, pastors, other volunteers) and tithe.

The second level consists of the “Committed” – people who don’t work at the church but tithe.

Next level would be the Congregation – they don’t work at the church and they don’t tithe, but they deserve credit for being good givers.

Fourth level = Crowd. They sometimes attend church (i.e., on special occasions and holidays). They only go to one church, but they don’t go very often

Fifth level = Community. They almost never go to church.

The Bishop called the Financial Foundation: The Ability to Reach, The Ability to Reproduce, The Ability to Rule.

A lack of balance hinders the pursuit of goals.
Reasons attributed to lack of balance: Ignorance, Disobedience, Grumbling/Faulting, Laziness.

I got cut short but here’s the reasons I managed to write down for things to do to achieve financial balance:

Strong work ethic
Discipline of delayed gratification
Budgeting to live beneath your “needs”
Saving/Paying Yourself
Didn’t get the fifth one.

Two interesting reads.

I think more of my health, how I envision myself 5-10 years down the road. I don’t want to be broken down, not able to play with my kids. I’ve been blessed and fortunate enough to play 10 years. I can get up and walk around and be comfortable. That’s one of the big determining factors.

~ Corey Dillon

According to a Boston.com story, Corey Dillon is ready to retire. He’s spent seven years with the Bengals, which was not that pleasing to him. I remember looking at Madden 2003…he was my favorite running back. The problem though, was that he was a great running back on a sucky team. Dillon was sick of losing, sick of going 8-8 while putting up so many great games individually. I’d say that his three years with the Patriots was his redemption and proof that he can be a team player who isn’t selfish and just in it for the money. I’ve always loved Dillon. He’s not getting that one day contract with the Bengals to retire as one…hmm, I wonder why? (sarcastic). It’s interesting that the Bengals got better once he left…that’s probably when they got themselves together, and when Dillon found better things. It’s called a win-win, folks.

If Dillon’s out of the picture, Maroney’s going to see a lot more time, no doubt. Maroney could be a big game kinda guy…Belichick needs to keep him around. Maybe get another back to share the load, and have Maroney blossom to be all he can be. I heard something about T. J. Duckett possibly being a replacement for Dillon (not to say that they’ve talked to him or anything), but wasn’t Duckett upset about not having the starting spot in ATL? Maybe Duckett wants that full time start.

You know, it’s really exciting to see Maroney just explode through the secondary.
