I was called in for Jury Duty on this date, March 23rd, 2007. I woke up at 6:30. I got ready as quickly as I could, and packed my red Nike bag.
I never knew that the value-adding machines ran on a timer. My father (who was with me to show me the way to the courthouse) learned that the hard way. He was putting money in, and he took so long to find more money that it spit the money out and told him he took too long. We eventually both got through, caught a train, and went off to Park Street. It was 8:00 by time we hit Park Street. My father said that the trains run too slow, but I told him this was normal speed and that there was no way we were getting to the courthouse by 8. We got there by 8:15 and luckily they were still taking people in.
I signed in eventually after waiting for 10 minutes in a line. I found a seat, and sat there. They showed us a video about the role of a juror in a court case that lasted 7-10 minutes. Eventually they gave us a break. At around 9:40, I bought an egg, sausage, and cheese sandwich on white, toasted bread for $2.75, ate it, liked it, and threw out the residuals.
I went back into the room at 10. The lady that I sat next to at the beginning was still sitting there. Doesn’t the blood circulation through her veins get messed up by sitting there for a long time? We’ll never know. Moving on, I was trying to read my secondary sources for my term paper, but I was just so tired that I ended up sitting there. I didn’t want to fall asleep, because I didn’t want to fall left, on that lady’s lap, or right, on the floor. (Speaking of sleep, a guy in the back was giving the ill snores at around 9:00.) I sat around just looking and staring until around 12, when we were given another break. I went and bought a 3 Musketeers bar and an A&W Cream Soda can (12 oz.) for $1.45. Note to self: Chocolate + soda = NO! And that’s my fault.
I did a little reading afterward, and did some looking around. There were a few people who looked 18-22. But there were quite a few older people to. I didn’t want to really talk to anyone that I would only know for a day. And oh yes, that lady was still sitting there. Nuts. By around 12:40 one of the officers came and told us that all the cases were settled (supposedly there’s a relation to the number of jurors present to the parties’ willingness to settle the case without trial), and we all got to leave. I heard applause. I rushed out, followed the crowd, and headed back to Government Center, took the train to Park Street, and got back to Ashmont.
I heard at Ashmont, on the bus’s communication radio, that someone at another station was pushed off a bus then rushed to a hospital. Freaky.

Sounds like an interesting day… but yea I have no idea what you were thinking when you decided to eat chocolate and soda. LOL. And what in the world are “residuals?” Hehehe…
