My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. I don’t understand it.
Hillary Clinton
I’ve read comments on Digg and Boston.com, and barely any of them defend her. She might have opened a can of worms with this…I hope it hits the TV news stations so everyone knows she said it.

My reaction to it now is a bit more subtle than it was when I first wrote and linked to that post. I can see what she’s trying to say but I don’t think she should’ve went with the Kennedy example.
Those guys on Digg are spinning this a lot more…it’s going to become a headache and now I’m hoping it doesn’t get too overplayed.

She didn’t mean it like that, though. All she meant was that a lot of races go into June, and she gave two examples. She would never imply Obama could get shot — a fear that many Americans have. It’s just not her style.
I think it’s more likely that she thought of her husband, and decided she needed another example, and with the Kennedys on everyone’s mind because of Ted’s diagnosis, that was the one that came out.
