Musical Taste

First of all, I apologize for the long hiatus. I got really into my job at Steppingstone as an intern this summer and then got into my RA job and the school year. But here’s a post for you now, and I hope to keep it up as the semester winds down.
Very often when mentioning a song that I like and its artist, I then get asked if I have heard other songs or albums from that artists. It is a reasonable question to be asked; I am not trying to say otherwise. Barring a few artists, though, my music library is more random than coherent. I’ll have two songs from System of a Down, then one from Talking Heads, one from Alice in Chains, etc. I mostly run into music from video games such as Rock Band and Madden, hence the variety of artists. I also have a bunch of songs from video games such as Super Mario Galaxy and Brawl. I love video game music a lot.
Lately, in terms of music, I’ve been listening to Disturbed. I was first introduced to them with the song Down With The Sickness. I later heard Stricken on Guitar Hero 3. I grew to love David Draiman’s voice and listened to the album Ten Thousand Fists. I bought that album and Indestructible; I don’t really like their older stuff as much. Their music has a nice balance of intensity and serious messages lying underneath. I’ve also lately gotten into an indie artist by the name of MC Lars, who makes satirical songs about the music industry and pop culture. In these two examples. Sometimes, in examples like these, I get into the whole album and love it. Most of the time, though, it’s picking one or two songs from a batch and going on to the next one. My musical interest is quite sporadic.
