You know what? I’m ridiculously bored. That means its time for me to talk about something that bugs me. MySpace. It’s getting quite a bit of attention as of late. Retarded cases with teenage girls, security concerns, etc. It’s the next biggest fad. But look, the problem with MySpace isn’t really the service in itself. It’s the bloody people on the service.

Bulletins are a way for people to broadcast messages to others. While this is a good feature (for announcements and things like that), the people use it for the dumbest things. Chain letters, “if you don’t repost this in x minutes you will have bad relationships for x amount of time”, and messages with titles that don’t agree with their subject matter are three examples. If I were to post an important bulletin, such as “There’s a meeting at so and so”, it would get wiped off the list of 5 in a hurry. And I’m very sure no one looks past that main list. Bulletins are put up and only stay up for 10 days. Something’s telling me they should make it two or something, because most of them are crap and pointless.

The pictures are okay, but really, can we have a limit on their dimensions? My friends list page is offset by tall pictures. Nasty layout. And this goes for any public service, including Xanga: Can you idiots chill out with your stupid CSS code? All this bull is slowing down my computer. Why do I want to see a Windows Media movie automatically play as well as three of your picture slide galleries? Did I ask for all that?

I would love it if we all got mature, moved away from MySpace and Xanga, and got to better blogging services, such as Blogger and WordPress. I’ve been back and forth from WordPress and Blogger, but I think I’m going to stick with WordPress. I can’t directly post from MacJournal anymore, but I can deal with that. I wish everyone got a Facebook page. Their site is much more aesthetically pleasing, and it keeps people from posting all that foolishness. Sure, it’s “boring”. But it’s better. If that’s boring, then I like it.

If I didn’t have to try to reach out to as many people as possible, I wouldn’t be using MySpace. But since so many of my school friends are there and I’m class president, I have to have some way of keeping in touch with them. Heh.
